I am an artist and an educator. I earned a BA in Art with an emphasis on Art History. While at university, I also studied ceramics and printmaking. After college, I joined the Peace Corps and was a volunteer for three years in Zambia. After Peace Corps, I returned home with passions for education and the arts. The passion and lack of fear in young students inspire me as an artist. I primarily work in ceramics, but I also do photography and painting.

As an artist, I am inspired by the long-term change of the natural and man-made world around me: the patina of copper, the decay of the forest floor, the movement of rivers and water, and the natural weathering of man-made objects. I do not attempt to replicate the look of aging objects in my art, but allow the aging processes that naturally occur to shape my work: the flow of water, the layering of materials, and the interactions of one medium with another.
